How long do you want to live? Since, I now have 20 grandkids, I would like to see them grow and develop through many years of their lives. Further, I want to have fun with them camping and visiting in various places. The aging process has so much to do with your health, your environment, your habits, your foods, your supplementation, and more. The actual chronological number of your age is not considered by most experts on aging. I know many people in their 90s and they have no signs of their lives ending.
In a previous blog, I mentioned antioxidants. It's difficult to live in a perfect environment being free of all pollutants. It is even difficult to eat proper healthy foods constantly. Fundamentally, antioxidants are found in fruits, vegetables and various herbs. When they are not a part of your daily eating regimen, you should supplement with a high level antioxidant. The internet is loaded with lists of them.
First the omissions: If you smoke, you have to quit. If you drink too much alcohol, you have to slow down on consumption or quit. If you are doing too much caffeine, quit or slow it down. If you are doing too many pain pills or other unnecessary medications, you need to find alternatives or quit them. Unfortunately, surgery and anesthesia decreases longevity. Of course, some surgeries are necessary and life saving but otherwise they should be avoided. Illness decreases longevity. If you are overweight find a program you can follow for weight loss. Cut the refined carbs for weight loss and for other health reasons. Wish people at parties or receptions well but don't eat the cake and ice cream at birthdays and wedding receptions. Diabetes is rampant today.
Include: Half by volume of your foods eaten daily should be raw. Fruits, vegetables, seed, nuts and berries. They will provide an abundance of antioxidants. Nobody should ever go a day without eating a salad of some sort. Utilize herbs in your cooking or eat some of them raw. While you are in the produce section of the supermarket and see something interesting that you have never experienced, find out what to do with it and have some fun learning about it. If you are not experiencing mild to moderate exercise, you must start. You can de-stress with endorphins and serotonins being secreted in your brain through exercise. Live and work in the cleanest environments possible. Have air cleaners in your home. Wash and vacuum all surfaces regularly. You should try to stay as healthy as you can by seeking good health practices. You will find a lot of these practices by reading previous blogs on this site. Drink good juices that you juice yourself. Do smoothies with fresh fruit. Have a vegetable smoothie for a meal. Reduce your calorie intake when your are eating high density high calorie foods all the time. Take home half of your meal when you are eating out. Have your home checked for radon gas. It can be deadly. Drink lots of water and get plenty of sleep nightly. Shower or bathe regularly.
