Lungs and Bronchial Passages

Lungs and Bronchial Passages

This winter has been devastating to the lungs and the bronchioles.  Mucus and coughing has been rampant.  Further, it has been long lasting.  It seems to be hard to get rid of.  It probably started out as a virus but it weakened the immune system and bacteria took over and settled in the lungs.

In the event of an emergency to breath, a person could step out on the front or back porch for a few minutes and inhale some cold air to constrict the tissues and breathing will be immediately easier.  Even putting your head in the freezer for a couple of minutes will assist breathing if necessary.  Stay well hydrated.  Place a humidifier in your bedroom.  Take hot baths with magnesium powder in the water.  Shower, breathing the steam.  Steam rooms at the spa or gym are amazing for symptoms. All are therapeutic but not a curative.

If too much mucus is an issue, Mucinex or something similar OTC may help.  Cough it up and spit it out.  Oil of Oregano is hot under your tongue but it is considered to be a natural antibiotic and a natural antihistamine.  Use as needed.  It also comes in capsules so you don't have to taste it.

Even though I don't like prescriptive antibiotics, it may become necessary for some so pneumonia doesn't develop.  Talk to a knowledgeable health store person about what they have to combat this.  If it is a virus, NSAIDs are probably your only recourse.  However, there are modalities to relieve some symptoms and pain if necessary.  As it has always been said, rest and lots of liquid.  Stay away from the public.

Lungs respond favorably to certain herbs.  Mullein which comes in teas, tablets and capsules are known to open the alveoli in the lungs for improve breathing.  Quercetin and Red Clover Tops found in health stores are natural elements for lungs.
